I cannot believe that you will be reading this Captain’s Comment in November of 2023. And we haven’t had two consecutive days of summer yet! We already lost one Friday afternoon sundowner, and most players will be undercooked for the upcoming Club Championships.

The next Rands-in-Raffle and Members Attendance Club Draw will be on Friday, 27 October 2023. Club Pool A is standing at R5000.00 with Club Pool B at R5000.00 & Club Pool C at R2200.00.

I am sure we have all played in a match where we need to hole a short putt to win, and we feel the pressure. Well, the last two Saturdays watching the Boks, felt like I needed a three-footer to win The Open Championship.

Go die Boertjies! ‘n Ordentlike pak slae om verlede jaar se misstappie uit te wis! For those not up to speed yet, the Boertjies gave the Souties a proper golf lesson on Friday, winning 14.5 to 7.5.

The big talking point this week is undoubtedly Friday’s clash between the Boertjies and Souties which promises to be a bumper affair! The Boertjies will be eager to reclaim the title after the hick-up of 2022.

Sundowners marked the start of summer on Friday, and with the arrival of October, another important mark on our calendar was reached. Yes, it is time to start planning your festive season rounds. As always, members will be afforded the opportunity to book tee times before we open them to the visitors, so don’t delay!

Last month I was fortunate to attend the Annual Club Managers Association conference in Stellenbosch and was extremely proud to witness our own General Manager, Sandra Lennox, receiving the top award for training participation which is awarded to the Club Manager who participates in the most training modules over the year in conjunction with their staff.
