With this being my first “Captain’s Comment”, I thought of taking the time to introduce myself and give a bit of background. I took up this wonderful game we play at the young age of 30, packing away the cricket gear after my body decided that it was time to pursue another sport.

Well, the club's AGM has come and gone and the fact that I am writing this week’s Chairman's Chat should give you a clue that you have got me for another year. I would firstly like to thank all the members who attended the AGM for your positive and constructive input.

It has been a while since we’ve seen the kind of domination of the professional game, like we’ve seen this last month. Nelly Korda – five starts, five wins. Scottie Scheffler – five starts, four wins and a runner-up. Last time we’ve seen this, was around the turn of the century when a certain Cat prowled the fairways.

As a lot of you have probably noticed, I normally write the Chairman's Chat in the last week of the month, but Jaco and I have decided to change roles this week to allow him time to prepare for the Captain's Dinner which will be held this Friday at the club.

It’s Masters week and the first time in 2024 that we will see most of the best male golfers in the game competing in the same event. There are some clear favourites, but it is hard when looking at the tee sheet, to find any one player to put your money on.
